Zoo DayCome and enjoy the 29th annual event with a variety of wildlife displays, kids activities and speakers - including Okefenokee Joe, "grizzl" Cylkie, Wildlife Wonders and many live critters! Ages: All ages Date: Saturday, May 17 Time: 11:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Location: Bear Hollow Wildlife Trail Fee: $3 per person donation requested
Memorial Day in Memorial ParkCelebrate Memorial Day at Memorial Park! Memorial Park will host the annual Memorial Day in Memorial Park on Monday, May 26 from Noon – 3:00 p.m. This year’s event is highlighted with the special unveiling of the Purple Heart Monument, located near the park’s flagpole, at 2:00 p.m. This special monument lists the names of area servicemen who have been awarded the Purple Heart in service to the United States. US Congressman Paul Broun will provide the keynote address and will donate an American flag that has flown over the US Capitol. Organizations scheduled to participate in the program include the American Legion, area boy scouts and girl scouts, Clarke Central ROTC and marching band, the University of Georgia ROTC, US Navy Supply Corps School, the US Army National Guard, and the VFW. Other park activities for the day will include concessions, inflatables, face painting and much more. The public is reminded that the park pool will not open until June 3. Snake DayEnjoy a fun-filled afternoon exploring the misunderstood and secret world of snakes. Learn about venomous snakes and identification, touch a snake, explore the amazing diversity of our native Georgia snakes and enjoy snake-related crafts and games throughout the afternoon. Come celebrate with us our 30th annual Snake Day featuring snake expert, Whit Gibbons! Ages: For families (children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult). Date: Saturday, June 7 Time: Noon - 4:00 p.m. Location: Sandy Creek Nature Center Fee: $3/ACC resident; $5/Non-ACC Resident
Family and Friends DayThis program will include a gospel music concert, basketball tournament, youth and adult tennis tournaments, family cake walk, carnival games, moonwalk, giant slide, free swim, live entertainment (band & DJ), concessions, and much more.
