Specialty Camps Specialty Camps 2008 ACC Leisure Services offers a variety of speciality camps for the upcoming summer. Dance Camps 2008 (706) 613-3624 Mandatory Orientation for Summer Camps All new families are required to attend orientation Monday, May 19, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. Failure to attend will result in the student’s registration being cancelled. Attendance and Certificate Requirement Students enrolled in the Summer Dance Camps must attend all classes and have good participation in order to receive a certificate. Students enrolled in the Summer Dance Project should not miss more than three days, and must successfully pass all written tests and have good participation. At the discretion of the Program Specialist, a student can be dismissed from the program if they are absent for more than three days without a good excuse or for lack of participation. Registration Registration must be made by the parent or legal guardian. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis and held at East Athens Educational Dance Center, 390 McKinley Drive. The main objective is to offer one week of intensive training that will develop posture, strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and rhythm. Through this training, the dancer is expected to gain better control of the mind and body, a greater ability to focus and concentrate, greater use of memory, and more confidence to meet new challenges. Fee: $35.00 Summer Dance Project, (706) 613-3624 Summer Dance Project is held for five weeks for upper level dancers who are looking to strengthen their technical training. An essential part of the program is the visiting artists that are invited for one week to teach dance classes in their specialty. These artists come with strong technical classes as well as innovative choreography. The dancer is expected to improve in the area of movement quality and gain a greater understanding of dance theory and composition. Students are admitted into Summer Dance Project by recommendation of the East Athens Educational Teaching Staff. Students who wish to be considered for this program will need to make an appointment for a special audition. Students from other dance schools will need to bring a recommendation from their school. This recommendation should include the names of the instructors, types of training, and the level of the training in which the student has achieved. An audition with East Athens Educational Dance Center is also required. An audition may be scheduled by calling 613-3624. (Students who are not intending to return for Fall Quarter classes are ineligible to participate in any works-in-progress to be presented in the annual dance production.)
