Rec League Athens Clarke Gymnastics Academy Rec League The Rec League is a FUN, introduction to girl's competitive gymnastics. There is no evaluation required to be on a Shooting Stars team. However, we do require that the students have previous gymnastics experience prior to participating in these classes. The All Star and Gym Star teams require an evaluation and approval. Practices are held one or two days per week and last 55 minutes to 1 hour and 25 minutes depending on the level of the team. Athletes are committed to their team for a mere 15-weeks, the length of one session. Competitions will be held at Athens Clarke Gymnastics Academy in the Bishop Park Gym once per session. These competitions will usually be a the end of each respective session. If you feel your daughter is ready for more of a challenge, this program is for her. Our next evaluation day for our All Star and Gym Star teams will be held Wednesday, November 17, 2010. Evaluation day is not a "drop-in" day. Your daughter is either recommended by her instructor or if she is not currently enrolled in our program, you must call and reserve a spot for her in advance. Only those students who wish to be considered for either our Rec League program or our competitive teams should attend the evaluation. Shooting Stars 55-minute class one day per week - maximum of 6 students per class 4 and 5 years NOTE: A child is enrolled in the age group based on her age as of September 1 of that school year. Athens Clarke Gymnastics Academy's Rec League is designed to be based directly on levels used by USA Gymnastics. The Shooting Stars level is USAG level 1. Students will learn the skills and routines on all four events (Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam and Floor Exercise). All students will compete these routines in a special competition where they will be judged and given scores one time each session. This is a fantastic way for all of our gymnasts to be able to compete! All Stars 1 hour 25 minutes two days per week - maximum of 8 students per class 5 - 7 year olds NOTE: A child is enrolled in the age group based on her age as of September 1 of that school year. Athens Clarke Gymnastics Academy's Rec League is designed to be based directly on levels used by USA Gymnastics. The All-Stars level is USAG level 2. Students will learn the skills and routines on all four events (Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam and Floor Exercise). All students will compete these routines in a special competition where they will be judged and given scores one time each session. This is a fantastic way for all of our gymnasts to be able to compete! Gym Stars 1 hour 25 minutes two days per week - maximum of 8 students per class 8 year olds and older NOTE: A child is enrolled in the age group based on his/her age as of September 1 of that school year. Students will learn skills and routines on all four events (Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam and Floor Exercise) and will compete these routines in a special competition where they will be judged and given scores. In addition to competing at Bishop Park, this team will also travel to compete against other gyms in the metro Atlanta area. This is a fantastic way for all of our gymnasts to be able to compete!
