LIGHT AFTER DARK: KAREKIN & GINGER GOEKJIAN
(May 31 – August 15)

On exhibition at Lyndon House Arts Center from May 31 to August 15 is a selection of work by husband-and-wife photographers Karekin & Ginger Goekjian. Their photos depict dream-like landscapes from the coastal regions of Georgia, suffused with moonlight and light from hand-held sources such as flashlights and filled with the decaying grandeur of old mansions, objects being consumed by their environments, and ghostly figures.

Karekin has photographed a series of time exposures situated on an old porch looking out onto a marsh, with traces of the silhouette or shadow of a passing cat. Ginger documented the disarray of an old greenhouse on Sapelo Island gone to seed. Another of her photos depicts an old church with its tightly shuttered windows illuminated from an uncertain source.

The public is invited to meet the artists and attend a multi-projectional slide presentation by Karekin Goekjian at Lyndon House Arts Center on Thursday, July 16 at 7:30 pm. This special program is free and open to the public.
