Spring Art Class Registration is underway! Many classes have already begun. Those with openings are listed below.

Face and Figure: Drawing and Painting Studio
If you are interested in drawing and/or painting from a live model, please join in this new group. Participants will bring their own supplies and will share in expenses
for the model. Instruction is not provided. You are welcome to attend whether you are a beginner or have experience.

Enamel Bead Making
Discover the world of making beads with this unique technique of enameling. You’ll learn the basics to start making your very own glass enamel beads. You’ll use a propane torch and fuse glass to copper tubing. Learn how to create various design elements into the glass. No bead is the same and you’ll complete about five beads to make your next unique jewelry design! Robin Weinrich, an award-winning jewelry artist, will share her passion for color and design using the basic hothead torch. A $10 supply fee will go to the instructor at the beginning of the first class. Limit five students.

Open Studio in Printmaking
For the experienced relief and intaglio printmakers. Participants will be able to use our two presses, studio space and glass slabs. You are responsible for bringing your consumable supplies, and cleaning up your workspace. A monitor will be present to answer questions, but no instruction is provided. Class limited to six students.

Jewelry/Metalsmithing
This course will look at jewelry as an art form rather than as a mode of production. It will cover processes
used in jewelry/metalsmithing focusing on piercing, soldering, appliqué, and inlay. The properties of different
metals will be taught, as well as, finishing techniques. Instructor Courtney Anne Poole received an Honorable Mention Award in the 33rd Annual Juried Exhibition at the Lyndon House Arts Center.

Painting with Charles
Whether you work in acrylic or oil, you’ll benefit from Charles’ individualized approach for the advanced beginner and intermediate painter. Students bring in their own subject matter or works in progress and Charles will offer easel side instruction on an individual basis.
Students bring their own painting supplies and canvas or other painting surface. Charles earned his MFA in painting from UGA and exhibits his large flower paintings regionally. Class limited to 10 students.

Methods of Relief Printmaking
This class is for beginners or intermediate printmakers who want to explore several different methods of relief printmaking. A design can be carved only almost any surface - from potatoes to silk - flooded with ink, and imprinted onto another surface. The master design can then be used to print again and again. This ability to reproduce an imge and to vary it slightly with each reproduction opens the door to a world of possibilities.

Digital Photography Demystified
This Class will focus on using digital technology to produce personal prints. The basics of digital imaging including computer manipulation, file storage and organization and printing options will be covered. Each person
will be required to bring a camera, either film or digital, and have a basic understanding of the Windows/Mac
operating systems. Each person should expect to spend approximately $10 per week for photographic printing.

Batik Workshop
Learn the traditional dye and hot wax technique on cotton fabric called batik (pronounced Bateek).

It is a way of decorating cloth by covering part of it with a coat of wax and then dyeing the cloth. The waxed area keeps its original color and when the wax is removed the contrast between the dyed and undyed area makes the pattern. The possibilities are endless! No drawing is necessary and materials will be provided. You may also bring any washed all cotton t-shirts, socks, etc.

Silk Painting with Dye Workshop
Learn to paint on silk and other fabrics from Athens foremost silk painter. No experience necessary. At the end of the workshop you will have several fabric samples and your own design on a silk scarf.

A $10 materials fee for dyes, silk scarf and fabric samples is due to the instructor at the beginning of the class. Bring a brown bag lunch. Maximum enrollment is 8 so sign up early!

Charity Quilting Bee
If you love to quilt, join this friendly group of quilters who creat quilts for local and overseas charities.

Some quilting experience is necessary. this is a quilting bee of the Cotton Patch Quilt Guild, but the public is welcome and membership is not required.

Thursday Painters
Join members of the Athens Art Association for an afternoon of painting at the Lyndon House.
Participants bring their own paints and other supplies and work on their own projects, but enjoy sharing ideas with each other. No fee or reservation needed, and membership in the Athens Art Association is not required.
