especially for teens.
ACC Leisure Services Summer Camp Registation Kick-Off 2010
Summer camp registration begins for Athens-Clarke County residents, Saturday, April 10, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Classic Center. Free parking is available in the Classic Center Parking Deck.
Parents are reminded to bring the following documents to registration:
Child's birth certificate
ACC Leisure Services Socholarship Card (if applicable)
Utility Bill (proof of residency)
Photo ID
Parents may register a maximum of two households. The age control date is September 1, 2010.
The following week, registration continues at individual facilities during regular hours of operation.
Non-ACC residents may register beginning Wednesday, April 14 during regular hours of operation.

Midnight at the Zoo -Animal Puppets Art Camp (706) 613-3623With the animals from Bear Hollow as our inspiration, we will create puppets and illustrate books which will tell the funny, sweet story of the zoo animals and their midnight adventures. Limit 24.

Puppets, Creatures and More! Art Camp (706) 613-3623
We will create puppets of all types! We will make and design cute animals, fun creatures, and so much more. Our art will come to life in a puppet show the last day of class. Limit 24.

Folk Art With Peter Loose Art Camp (706) 613-3623
Who better to learn Folk Art from than the world renowned folk artist: Peter Loose! The author of Bongo is a Happy Dog and Bongo Has Many Friends will be here to share his love of art and books. Limit 24.

It's My Planet-Antarctica! Art Camp (706) 613-3623Come with us as we explore the coldest continent on earth! We will explore the beauty, mystery, and geology of Antarctica though an artist’s eye. Even though 98 % of the continent is covered in ice, we will find art inspiration from the tiny plant mosses that live there, to the penguins and seals, to the ice shelves and everything in between! Limit 45.

There will be plenty of drawing, painting, printmaking and other art along the way. We may even explore art and artists from other time periods including the original Athens. Limit 30

Teens on Canvas Art Camp (706) 613-3623Whether you are new to drawing and painting or just want to sharpen your skills, come join us for an exciting class where you will transform line and color into shapes and interesting compositions. You will learn drawing and painting techniques, as you use your own creativity! We will provide the pencils, paper, paints, brushes and painting surfaces, you provide the imagination. Limit 16.

Teen Camp: Beaded Jewelry (706) 613-3623Make your own professional looking beaded jewelry! You'll learn the basics about tools, findings, stringing, materials, finishing as well as design. The class will include creating a necklace, earrings, chandelier earrings, and multi-strand pieces. The instructor will provide all the basic glass beads you’ll need to learn these techniques, but you can use those gorgeous beads you’ve been collecting, too. Limit 8.

Project Runway! Art Camp (706) 613-3623Have you been looking for a fashion design class? Well, this is it! Learn sewing and design basics, as you create your own “collection”. We will also explore the use of accessories and styling. Show off your designs in a mini fashion show at the end of camp! Limit 24

Teen Cartoon Illustrator's Club (706) 613-3623This informal gathering of teens, who like to draw Anime and cartoons of all kinds, meets twice each month. The meetings usually are a discussion of recent drawings and characters led by cartoonist artist Robert Brown. Occasionally the club invites adults who have made a career or hobby with their own drawing skills. The meeting ends with pizza and fellowship.
