ACC Leisure Services operates five public outdoor pools. These pools are open during the summer months, only.

Pool Season 2009
Bishop Park pool will open Saturday, May 30 from Noon to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 31 from 1:00 - 5:30 p.m.

Memorial Park, East Athens Community Center, Lay Park, and Rocksprings Park Pools all open Tuesday, June 2. (Subject to change based on operating budget decisions.)

Pool hours are subject to change pending budget decisions

Pool Admission Fees amd Pool Passes
$1.00 per person

Individual pool passes are $20. Family(up to 4) pool passes are $30.

ACC Leisure Services Report Card Rewards Program
Making the grade at the swimming pool!

ACC Leisure Services offers a new summer program celebrating students with good grades!

In order to be eligible, any student, Kindergarten through 12th grade, enrolled in a private or public school in Athens-Clarke County may bring his/her final report card to any of the Leisure Services five pools - Bishop Park, East Athens Community Center, Lay Park, Memorial Park, and Rocksprings Park and earn a special reward.

A report card with all A's or all E's guarantees a free summer pool pass. A report card with all A's and B's, or all E's and M's, is good for 16 free swims, and a report card with all A's, B's, and no more than 2 C's receives 8 free swims for the summer.

Keep those grades up during the school year and earn a free swimming pass during the summer!

Learn to Swim - Swim School
The Athens-Clarke County Department of Leisure Services will offer swim lessons for ages 6 months-Adult at Bishop Park at 705 Sunset Drive.

Registration continues at Bishop Park and continues Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. � 4:30 p.m.

The lesson instructors train and operate under an American Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructor.

Participants are limited to 5 Per-Classes for levels Pre-School, Level I, II, III, IV, V and Parent / Tots. Classes are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis.

Swim classes are scheduled for Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Session 2: June 16 - July 2; and Session 3: July 7 - July 23. Preschool I and II and Levels I-V: 9:00a.m., 9:50 a.m., 10:40 a.m.; Parent/Tot: 1:00 p.m. and 1:50 p.m.

Each session fee is $33 for Athens-Clarke County residents and $50 for non-county residents. Scholarships are available for qualifying Athens-Clarke County residents

Master Swim
A program designed to provide aquatic training and exercise for adults.

Ages: 18 years and older
Program Date: May 26 - July 24

Days: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays

Time: 6:30 - 7:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Location: Bishop Park Pool

Registration: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at Bishop Park. Registration opens Monday, April 20, 2009 until full

Fee: $55/ACC Resident; $83/Non-ACC Resident

Dolphins Swim Team
A competitive, co-ed swim program with an emphasis on learning, developing and improving various swim strokes to prepare swimmers for competition against other swim leagues.
Swimmers must be able to swim the length of the Bishop Park pool to be eligible.

Age Groups: 5-18 years
*Participants must be 5 years prior to June 1 to register*
Fee: $0-$55 for ACC residents dependent upon scholarship eligibility; $83 for non-ACC resident
Registration: Opens Monday, April 13 from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the Bishop Park Gym. Registration is taken on a first come, first serve basis. Spaces available for 150 swimmers.
Instructors: Members of the Athens Bulldog Swim Club, Coaches and swimmers from the UGA Swimming and Diving team.
Practice: Held daily (Monday - Friday), starting May 25 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Bishop Park pool.
First practice: Wednesday, May 27.
Dates: May 25 - July 24

Maternity Aqua-Shapeup At Memorial Park
Calling all mothers-to-be! The Athens-Clarke County Department of Leisure Services offers Maternity Aqua Shapeup at the Memorial Park pool

Expectant mothers have their own aquatics aerobics class this summer. This program takes place Saturdays, June through August at 11:00 a.m. at the Memorial Park pool. The fee is $5 per class. Registration is underway by calling (706) 613-3580.

�Twinges in Rusty Hinges� Aquatic Aerobics Offered At Memorial Park

Do your joints squeak or groan when you exercise? Are there twinges of pain as you work out? Would you like greater freedom of movement and mobility without the impact of traditional aerobics? Then aquatic aerobics is for you!

The Athens-Clarke County Department of Leisure Services offers �Twinges in Rusty Hinges� Aquatic Aerobics this summer at Memorial Park The sessions are offered Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. The fee is $5 for each exercise session. Participants may pay at the gate at the time of the session.

Aquatic Aerobics has become popular with many who didn�t enjoy other types of aerobics classes. In aquatic workouts, the water displaces up to 85% of your weight which makes movements easier and the natural resistance gives a great workout.

Join instructor Kim Saxton for wonderful low impact exercise sessions. Saxton, who is certified through the Aquatic Exercise Association and Hydro-Fit, will lead participants through a variety of stretching, limbering and weight routines to music. She has taught these classes for 12 years and has been honored by the University of Georgia as the Hydrobic Instructor of the Year for four years.
